The 2012 Nissan GT-R is advanced the performance envelope of Nissan, and the new GT-R is way more advanced that the previous versions. The maximum power under the hood now is 530 horsepower, which is 45 hp more than previous year and maximum torque this year is 488 lbs-ft, which are 434 more from last year. The increased power and torque could be attributed to the blend of revised turbo boost and the smooth exhaust and intake systems. The brakes for the car which already were immensely impressive have also been enlarged a tad bit by means of added performance potential.
With cooling performance for the muffler is improved and rear downforce is increased by about 10% through use of a new rear fascia outlet and new vents on the lower rear fenders that help remove air from the rear wheel wells. Newly designed larger diameter tailpipe finishers are also adopted. Six exterior colors are available, including two new colors: Deep Blue Pearl and Jet Black. Other available colors are Solid Red, Gun Metallic, Pearl White and a limited production 4-stage metallic Super Silver.
The Nissan GT-R 2012 increase in economy is a feat, considering the substantial 45-hp bump to the VR38DETT V-6, due mainly to higher boost pressure made possible by better engine cooling. Peak boost rises from 10.9 psi to 13.0, and timing and fuel mixture are remapped accordingly. Mizuno says a 1-mm increase in the stroke of the thermostat allows greater coolant flow, which helps compensate for the higher cylinder temperatures. The two air-inlet pipes that feed the gorgeous intake manifold have larger diameters, and exhaust backpressure was reduced.
